Lazy Days


It was rainy and cold here in East Tennessee this past weekend. Summer has definitely moved out and fall is here!!! I have to admit, I love it. I have always loved fall weather, and - especially since I'm 7 months pregnant - the cool air is welcome.

Despite the drizzle on Saturday, Matt went out for a game of golf, so I had the house to myself. I got to enjoy my Saturday sleeping in, doing laundry, sorting more of Colton's clothes, catching up on CMT videos, (www.cmt.com) and staying in my PJs - watching one of my favorites, Sweet Home Alabama - until mid-afternoon. I am going to enjoy these "selfish" Saturday mornings while I can.

Tennessee Thunder was scheduled to perform on Sunday, but due to some dancer cancellations, we had to pass and look forward to the next performance. So, Matt and I went out for a little shopping and lunch at Pals (I'm completely addicted to the burgers, the fries and the sweet tea) which was absolutely delicious. After lunch, it was back to the house for another lazy day. We flipped between football and NASCAR (www.nascar.com) - and if you didn’t catch the race, it was a true Talladega finish. We snacked, watched more football (oh, and in case anybody cares, I'm still the only undefeated team in our fantasy football league), snacked some more and finished the evening off by watching another one of my favorites – Robin Hood (the one with Russell Crowe).


There was nothing really special about this weekend, except for the fact that I got some much needed rest, which makes it easier to face this busy week ahead.  This week is the start of my third (and final) trimester and it’s full of work, doctor appointments, clogging practices and a trip to Indiana. In the middle of this crazy adventure we call life, I’m so thankful for the lazy days I get to enjoy – even if they are few and far between!

Full term - I never thought I would be so happy to hear those words! Even though we have about 3 more weeks to go, as of Friday, December 7 th , I reached week 37 and Colton reached full term. Most babies at this point weigh about 7 pounds and are measuring around 20 inches long (of course this varies between babies, some weighing more or less).   He is most likely between the size of a wintermelon and a miniature watermelon and either way, I’m just happy that we reached this point with no complications. This week, I’m finding it harder to sleep due to the fact I can’t get comfortable for long periods of time. A Sawmill - Good for the Soul

Forklift Operator I don't know if there's anything more awesome than watching my child experience things that I got to experience in my childhood. For those of you who know my family and my background, you know that I was raised in the mountains of Western North Carolina (and when I mean in the mountains - I mean literally, IN the mountains)! We lived on a dirt road near my Grandparents and my Uncle Pat and Aunt Teri. My family ran a sawmill and raised a small patch of tobacco, so my sister and I made lots of toys out of sawdust (makes great toppings for dirt pizza), mud (cupcakes), sticks, slabs, horse buggies and everything else we could get our hands on. We spent lots of time outside. Not only were we just outside playing, but we were learning to work and to be involved and interacting with our family. It was our life. Brining

I could say I have never heard of the word "brining" before, but that wouldn't be 100% accurate. I think I've "heard" the word but I haven't ever paid attention to what it was...until now! I got a few chicken breasts at the grocery store the other day and I was looking for new ways to bake them. I always bake them because it's supposed to be "healthier" (even though I usually have a bowl of ice cream for dessert)!
