Baby Shower #1

This past weekend, Matt and I traveled to Indiana for my first baby shower. Matt’s family planned a beautiful brunch on Saturday and with the fall weather, delicious food and wonderful fellowship with friends and family, we were showered in love…

The shower was held in the town of Lewisville at Houston Brick. The “home” to William and Fannie Lybrook Houston, was built in 1845 and it was the first brick building in Lewisville. It’s a beautiful building and full of history. The building has been used for the purpose of a home, inn, vulcanizing shop, restaurant, merchant shop and then became a vacant “eye sore”. The town of Lewisville purchased the building in 1995 and applied for a grant for historic restoration, and the first lady – Judy O’Bannon – dedicated the Houston Brick on February 10, 2000. The restoration took about five years to complete.  The building now houses the Lewisville Community Center, Utility Office and Community Library. The center is available for club or organization meetings and available to the public to rent for parties.
Brunch was served at 11am and included yummy homemade casseroles, pumpkin and banana breads, pumpkin muffins, monkey bread and other delicious goodies! Of course, we were blessed with many gifts – and thankful for the thoughtfulness behind each of them.  Baby Colton now has a pack-n-play and highchair, tons of adorable clothes and lots of soft blankets to keep him warm. I have been wanting to start a scrap book for Colton - I’m horrible at knowing where and how to start - so thankfully we got a “pre-made” scrap book, and it’s going to be so cute when I get it all put together.  I’m very excited about the baby food processor we received and I’m looking forward to trying new homemade recipes for our little guy. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better “first” baby shower!

Matt and I are continually blessed by our family and friends. We are so lucky to have thoughtful and loving people surrounding us. Despite the long drive, the trip was completely worth it. The only problem, we never have enough time. We are looking forward to Baby Shower #2 - with the Shelton family - on November 3rd. I have no doubt in my mind that our little Colton will have all he needs – and more!!!
