Amazing Moments

Today starts week 25 of my pregnancy and I can't believe how fast the weeks have gone!!! I've been so blessed with a fairly "easy" pregnancy so far and I'm extremely thankful that the time has just flown by. When reading my weekly pregnancy update this morning (via www.parents.com), I was totally amazed. If our baby boy was born today, he would survive (with the help of ICU) because his lungs (though very tiny) CAN actually breathe. I'm already in awe of the fact that in 14 short weeks (give or take), I'll be able to hold our little guy but knowing that he's already developed enough to survive the outside world today makes it all so much more amazing. I did practice putting the car seat in and out of the car this past weekend - I figured if I start now, I MIGHT have it figured out by the time he arrives. I'm more than ready for this little angel to make his appearance in the world - but I'll be happy for him to finish "cooking" until December :-)

A Sawmill - Good for the Soul

Forklift Operator I don't know if there's anything more awesome than watching my child experience things that I got to experience in my childhood. For those of you who know my family and my background, you know that I was raised in the mountains of Western North Carolina (and when I mean in the mountains - I mean literally, IN the mountains)! We lived on a dirt road near my Grandparents and my Uncle Pat and Aunt Teri. My family ran a sawmill and raised a small patch of tobacco, so my sister and I made lots of toys out of sawdust (makes great toppings for dirt pizza), mud (cupcakes), sticks, slabs, horse buggies and everything else we could get our hands on. The Best Is Yet To Come

Matt & I  - Little Rock, Arkansas Texas Road Trip 2008 5 years ago (this month), I went on my first road trip with Matt. Matt's Mom was moving to Texas and I decided to ride along with Matt as he pulled a trailer from Indiana (he stopped in Tennessee to pick me up) to Texas. I have heard that it's a long trip but we were so busy getting know each other that the time flew by. I have to say that being stuck in a vehicle with somebody for that long is a good way to figure out if you like them or not. :-) Lucky for us, it was just the first of MANY road trips to come. 4 years ago (next month), I moved to Indiana to be with Matt. It was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made, but it was definitely the right one! Moving to Indiana helped me grow in so many ways. Brining

I could say I have never heard of the word "brining" before, but that wouldn't be 100% accurate. I think I've "heard" the word but I haven't ever paid attention to what it was...until now! I got a few chicken breasts at the grocery store the other day and I was looking for new ways to bake them. I always bake them because it's supposed to be "healthier" (even though I usually have a bowl of ice cream for dessert)!
