Christmas in Gatlinburg

This past weekend, Matt and I drove (45 minutes) down to Gatlinburg to meet up with his family for a Christmas celebration. Since Colton could arrive any day, the doctor’s orders were to stay fairly close to home. We are thankful that the rest of the family was able and willing to travel to us this year and we had such a great time!

We rented a cabin with Cobbly Nob Cabin Rentals and stayed in A Window to Paradise. The cabin was about 10 miles from downtown Gatlinburg, we checked in on Thursday afternoon and stayed through Sunday morning. The cabin had 3 king-size suites with bathrooms, 2 queen-size sofa beds, a full game room, wrap-around decks, a hot tub, fireplace and fully stocked kitchen. The view was amazing and it was also completely decorated for Christmas.

Over the course of a few days, we exchanged Christmas gifts, enjoyed the view and weather on the deck, visited downtown Gatlinburg to check out several shops and stopped for lunch at Johnny Rockets. We took the Sky Lift up to see Gatlinburg’s #1 scenic overlook, visited the Ole Smoky Moonshine distillery and took a trip to Smoky Mountain Knife Works in Sevierville. We played games, watched movies, shared stories and celebrated Matt’s dad’s birthday dinner at No Way Jose's Cantina | Mexican Restaurants. Of course none of us were ready to go home, but (I think) we all had a great time and we plan on making it a yearly tradition.

I’m so thankful that I married into a family who accepts me, loves me and makes me feel right at home. I love the time that we get to spend together and I’m looking forward to our next visit (which happens to be in a few short weeks to welcome Colton into the world)!

  1. No words can express how much you all mean to me and just the joy of having a beautiful Christmas together in the Smokey Mountains was as good as it gets!!! Thank you for accepting all of us, too, and I am soooooo excited to see how our family will grow each Christmas. Colton just might make it before Christmas 2012 rolls in! He will be such a wonderful blessing to you, Matt and our entire family!
Love you and more pics to come!!
