My husband gets it
I'm going to brag on my husband for a minute...
Yesterday was a long day. It started at 3:30AM when Colton woke up! He has been battling a stomach funk that won't make him totally "sick" but won't go away either. After getting him back to sleep and (what felt like) just closing my eyes, my alarm went off at 6:15AM. It was time to get ready for the Wounded Warrior Project Cross Country 5K. Since the race was sponsored by Laughlin Hospital, the LMH Cloggers were proud to participate! After the race, Mom and I drove to Johnson City. We were going to SAMS club and had planned on being back home by noon(ish), but we got side tracked by a HUGE plant nursery (that I plan on going back to) and lunch at McAlister's Deli! :-)
- Back Story -
I woke up one morning (a little over a week ago) and decided that I was tired of my wallpaper in my kitchen. The wallpaper was peeling, outdated, stained and just blah! I went to Lowe's to get all the material I needed for a DIY project. I told the lady "my husband remodels houses for a living, but I don't want him to have to do anything". So, I loaded up what I needed and headed home. When Matt got home and I told him my plan and said, "you don't get any say in this project because I'm doing it myself"! Welp, I changed my mind pretty quickly when I realized that I needed him to cut my pieces to go around my light switches and outlets before I could even lay anymore of my tile! ANYWAY, he gladly helped me "get going" on MY project. On Monday, I ran out of materials, time and patience and so I have been looking at a half done back splash for a week.
Feeling pretty bad about the fact that I had told Matt I would be home by noon(ish) and I wasn't even at SAMS club by 11:50AM, I called to "check in". I told Matt that I was trying to hurry and would be home soon and he said "it's okay - we're fine, take your time"!
To make a long story a little less long, I'll just say that I walked in the door to a fully finished back splash in my kitchen (minus the grouting - he left that for me)! Not only did my awesomely, amazing husband finish the tile, he washed and put away ALL of his laundry, fed Colton breakfast and lunch, washed a load of Colton's clothes, took a trip to Lowe's, washed and put away all of the dirty dishes and had Colton down for his nap when I got home!
I say marriage is a team sport and I am so thankful that I have an All-American teammate! My husband just gets it. He doesn't have to be asked, he doesn't have to be told, he doesn't have to be "nagged", he doesn't have to be bribed - he just grabs ahold and does stuff. I woke up and left the house and didn't say one word about what needed done at our house or what Colton needed for the day because Matt knows! He knows me and he knows his son. He knows how to be a Dad and he knows how to be a husband. I am so proud of the Man/Dad/Husband/Companion that Matt has become. I'm almost as thankful for my new back splash! :-)
